Uses for VoiceThread in Education

VoiceThread was an easy tool that I had only used in my college courses. I decided to use the prepared voicethread in a technology mini staff development session. I am part of the math committee at my school so this was great to discuss problem solving. It enabled me to upload pictures and record audio commentary. During this particular session, it was used as just a presentation but could be used as an interactive Q & A session for a later time. With VoiceThread teachers and students can create virtual tours, report on books they've read, comment on historically significant photographs, debate a topic, and more. It’s rather simple to add audio, images and documents.  VoiceThreads can be hosted free of charge at VoiceThread.com and each VoiceThread has its own unique URL. All educators love things that are free. A VoiceThread can be embedded in blogs, wikis, and other types of Web sites. VoiceThread can play a key role in providing peer feedback also. I believe students are actively engaged and finish with a clearer understanding of what they have read.  For students with special needs, it allows them to collaborate through webcam commenting.

A few other ways to use VoiceThread:
·         Create a virtual tour
·         Comment on photographs
·         Create oral book reports.
·         Create a public service announcement
·         Simulate an interview
·         Analyze and comment on charts and graphs
·         Create a presentation based on images
