My name is Brooke Rothwell and I have been teaching for
Guilford County Public Schools since 1998. Since beginning a career in
teaching, I have taught kindergarten and first grade. I have served as school
leadership team representative, grade level chair, mentor, cooperating teacher
for student teachers and common core mathematics school representative.
My introduction to Instructional Technology and Design was at
the University of North Carolina Greensboro where I pursued a Master’s degree
in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics designing lessons
for mathematics and literacy that incorporate technology. Once learning basic
applications, I participated in a North Carolina Council of Teachers of
Mathematics mini session incorporating technology into the mathematical
curriculum. After acquiring my first Master’s degree, I began working on a new Master’s
degree in Instructional Technology.
I am currently working with the media coordinator and
technology specialist at her school to provide staff and students with
technology advances in education. I continue to stay abreast with the new technology
innovations of the future for education. Understanding that technology is the
way of the future, I work eagerly towards advancing my students and myself in
technology.
